GREG LEWIS BIO
GREG
LEWIS is performing in his critically acclaimed
one-man show SOME
GREEKS ARE NOT IN THE RESTAURANT BUSINESS”at
The Beverly Hills Playhouse (August 4 - Sept 9, 2007),
giving a “no holds barred” insight into
his growing up in the streets of Chicago.
Greg talks about going on the road at the age of 15
as a harmonica player with the world famous JERRY
MURAD'S “"HARMONICATS"”
and later with “THE HARMONICA RASCALS”
starring LITTLE JOHNNY PULEO, and along the
way, marrying a Turkish Jewess, naturally against his
Greek parents wishes. Then, when his life long-friend
Gus Christy was discharged from the army, they formed
a comedy team; and as LEWIS & CHRISTY, “THE
MAD GREEKS”, they enjoyed twenty hugely
successful years, playing all the top hotels, night
clubs and television shows. They made numerous appearances
on: Ed Sullivan, Hollywood Palace, Merv Griffin and
Mike Douglas, TV shows.
When the
team broke up, Greg moved to the West Coast, focused
on acting, and as a member of Milton Katselas’
Master Class has managed to emerge as an accomplished
serious, as well as comedic actor. His leading roles
include The First National Company of “PROMISES,
PROMISES” and “GUYS AND
DOLLS” starring MILTON BERLE. Greg is also a member of YARMY'S
ARMY and with the group performs many benefits for worthy causes.
You’ll
remember Greg as TINO, the Greek Chef, opposite Al Pacino
and Michelle Pfeiffer in the Garry Marshall feature,
FRANKIE & JOHNNY, also EXIT
TO EDEN, and DEAR GOD. Greg
was also in the Kevin Spacey/Jeff Bridges film, K-PAX
and the Disney movie MAX KEEBLE'S BIG MOVE,
and is currently appearing as Vladmir Gargarin in the
sci-fi series MARS AND BEYOND for the
CYBERSCI-FI NETWORK on the Internet.
Greg has just finished
guest starring on DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES as STAN , Polly Bergen's boyfriend. He also
guest stars on THE GILMORE GIRLS, HIDDEN
HOWIE, and in his recurring role as: BARON
von TROKEN in Garry Marshall's PRINCESS DIARIES
1 & 2 , starring Ms. Julie Andrews. In
addition, Greg is HERMAN, a deli owner who transports
exceedingly questionable meat, in the dark comedy LOVE
AND A BULLET, starring the rap star Anthony
“Treach” Criss.
Greg began writing ten
years ago, when he wrote the hit play, LOCKER
ROOM which ran at The Skylight Theatre for five months,
and won the Dram-Logue award for Best Production 1991.
He
also wrote THE WARM-UP, starring Sammy Shore, which won
the Drama-Logue award for Best Writing 1992. He has
also written
three films, two of which have been produced.
